About Us

Our Organization

HWSS was created by mental health professionals who could see a gap in how NDIS services were supporting people with psychosocial disability .

We understand that mental health affects everyone and affects everyone differently. There are times when people may need more or less support, or different kinds of support and we know how psychosocial disability can affect people very differently to other types of disabilities.

Each team member at HWSS comes with years of experience in a range of areas and all have a passion for supporting people with mental health challenges to reach their goals, be empowered and regain their best sense of self.

Our Mission

To provide holistic, professional, NDIS supports to people with psychosocial disabilities to help  improve their overall health, wellbeing & recovery.

Believing in Recovery

HWSS works from a strengths perspective that believes in client empowerment and celebrates the individual recovery, a process where individual's are active participants, allowing individuals to create their own unique recovery journey.

The Recovery Model believes that people with mental health issues can and do recover.

Our focus is not only symptom relief but supporting individuals to work towards attaining personal success and a good quality of life.

Recovery is viewed as a process that individual's are active participants in, make their own choices and take responsibility. HWSS empowers participants to make their own choices, control their own recovery journey and be self-determined.

This vision describes a life beyond the diagnosis that is both valuable and important.

Our mental health professionals utilise a strength based approach and assume all individuals have strengths and the potential to grow. We work collaboratively with individuals to identify their strengths and then develop goals and objectives.

The Lotus

The HWSS logo is made up of a lotus flower and 5 principles of wellbeing (see below).

The Lotus represents purity, enlightenment, self-regeneration and rebirth, in many cultures.

It symbolises how, even when it is growing in difficult times, in poor conditions, it always produces the most beautiful flower.

At HWSS we believe people can flourish, thrive and recover- like the Lotus flower- even in challenging times.

We understand mental health and provide support to help people reach their recovery goals.

Our Values

Connecting with others helps build a belonging, self-esteem and confidence. healthy relationships can provide emotional support, encouragement and a community to share positive experiences with.

Learning new skills can help boost our self-confidence and our sense of purpose. A great way to connect with others is by trying and learning new things and taking steps to grow to be our best selves.

Physical activity is so good for our physical health and wellbeing and has amazing benefits for our mental and social wellbeing too. Being active helps us overcome challenges and leads to improvement in mood.

Paying attention to the present moment  can help improve our thoughts, feelings and our bodies. This is also known as mindfulness and can help change the way we view life and challenges, and help increase our understanding of ourselves and others.

The act of giving to others is incredibly powerful for improving mental health and wellbeing.. Giving creates positive feelings, purpose and self-worth. Giving releases chemicals in our brains that help us feel joy.

These 5 principles of Wellbeing are the core values of Health & Wellbeing Support Services

"Recovery is a deeply personal, unique process of changing one's attitudes, values, feelings, goals, skills and/ or roles. It is a way of living a satisfying, hopeful and contributing life, even with the limitation caused by illness. recovery involves the development of a new meaning and purpose in one's life as one grows beyond the catastrophic effects of mental illness."
